On my page I want to discuss how Sports as Media Entertainment has influenced people. There is a huge public intrigue with sports. I am a huge football fan. I love it all, NFL, AFL, College, and even a good game in the park. As you can see my favorite team is the Tennesse Titans. How did I, along with thousands of other people become such die hard Titans fans? A big reason would be the mass media. Sporting events are brought to people on television, the internet, newspapers, magazines and the radio. I believe the biggest impact of sports as entertainment is through the television. For all the 68,809 fans in attendance at a Titans game, there are thousands of fans tuned in watching the game on tv. Watching the game on tv allows fans to not only be entertained by the event but also feel like they are really there due to special effects. I know personally I enjoy the whole atmosphere of attending a game and can get distracted. While watching a game at home I am more focused on the game itself. Commentators also add a certain flare to watching a game on tv. That goes the same for listening to a game on the radio because you are given a play by play account from the annoucer.

I know that because of mass media I am able to keep up with and support my team. I go to the Titan's website everyday for the latest team news. I also go to other related sites that you can find under the FAVORITE LINKS section on this page. During the season I am either attending or watching Titans games on tv, listening to Titans radio, and or on the Titans site looking at the play by plays. I also own a wide variety of Titans merchandise. The team also has a show called Titans All Access which airs during the season that you can also see on the team's website. I am sure that all Titans fans are fans influenced by some sort of the mass media. Below is a display of just one fan's way of using the mass media. You can visit his website, link given in  FAVORITE LINKS.
Clay Travis, a 25-year-old Vanderbilt law school graduate, is on a pudding strike until he is able to watch Titans games in the U.S. Virgin Islands where he currently lives.

GO TITANS!!!

As long as sports is a media entertainment spots coverage will continue to advance and grow. Mass media is a huge part of how popular sporting events have become today. With the fan base growing, stations like ESPN, CBS, FOX and NBC all work hard to broadcast what the fans want. Not to mention all these stations have websites exclusive for sports or with links about sports. The power of sports has shifted its control. No longer does the media have to adapt to sports' needs but sports has to adapt to the media.
